How it all started?
The beginings of these successful company is linked to a very big Mexican passion: Soccer. Mario Alberto Tinajero, founder of Manhattan says that it all started at age 16, thirsty and after a heated soccer practice wanted to buy a fruit bar for the classic store. The appereance and hygiene of the products left much to be desired, from then he persued the idea of creating a 100% natural fruit product, hygienic and healthy. Something that did not exist back then.
The complicity of his mother.
Supported by the recipes of her mother Eva, and the help of his sisters, Lila and Maria Luisa the first dummies where made. And the fruit bar culture in Mexico was borned. "My mom made a milk based dessert and we turned it into an fruit bar" says Mr. Mario.
The Meeting point.
It was 1956 and word spread that the number 150, Lincoln Street sold delicious popsicles. 3000 popscicles produced everyday were not enough back then. In less that three months the product had a major move and people no longer thought of popsicles, they tought in Manhattan.
Background
In 1985 Jorge Alejandro Tinajero M. joined the company, he is the young brother of Mr. Mario Alberto. Since then they run the company.
To please customers and looking for ice cream, Manhattan introduced the Blue Bell Creameries in 1991. Blue bell is considered a leader in dairy products and ice cream in the USA.
